Columbus Firefighters make a last minute rescue after a man gets trapped on the Chattahoochee.
The man was rescued safely, but firefighters say it was a last minute decision, and if they'd waited much longer he would have been underwater.
He was stranded on rocks near the dam next to the 13th Street Bridge.
Firefighters aren't sure if the sirens went off, but even if they did, some say it would still be hard to hear them down the river.
Captain Jeff Victor was one of the firefighters that rescued Wednesday’s victim. He wants folks to remember this as they play this summer, “Just stay off the rocks, bottom line. When Georgia Power is generating the water rises in just minutes. This man was out there and thought he could get back.”
Firefighters say they're thankful this rescue was successful, but say it is extremely dangerous to go onto the rocks near any dam on the Chattahoochee, and that people should be very careful.
