Math Scores Released for Alabama and Georgia

Scores are in for eighth grade students in math. Both Georgia and Alabama have improved.
Alabama is still near the bottom in a nationwide ranking, with only Mississippi and the District of Columbia scoring lower. Alabama public schools did increase three points this year to a score of 269. Meanwhile, Georgia's score rose to 278. The national average in eighth grade math is 283. The test results were released by the Department of Education. The test is called "The Nation's Report Card". It's meant to
measure how states are doing academically compared to the rest of the country in subjects like math, reading, science, history and
