Local Companies Are Ready to Roll Out to Fort Knox

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Real estate companies, school districts, and health care providers are among those hitting the road Tuesday to show the folks at Fort Knox what Columbus has to offer.

This trip is the first time Columbus companies will be able to talk to the nearly 30,000 folks relocating to our area in the next year and a half as a result of Base Realignment and Closure or BRAC.

Fort Benning's, School Liaison Officer, Connie Carter, says she wants to give those who are relocating a heads up about local education.

“I think it's important because a lot of the people that will be transferring here have never been to Fort Benning before and so it gives them information so they can pre-plan and be prepared when they do get here”

What is needed to make the trip successful? Lots of banners, brochures, and knowledge about Columbus which will be available at an information fair for Fort Knox residents.

Local businesses are loading up their materials into a 30 foot truck that will transport all the supplies to Fort Knox for the Information fair.

Midtown Inc’s Director of Community Affairs, Judith Tucker, says she welcomes the chance to pitch the benefits of living in Midtown.

Midtown is always trying to reach out to other areas because this is just a whole new group of people coming to the area we just want people to know about it and know we exist.”

The Columbus representatives will be setting up on Wednesday for the fair on Thursday
