» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

The fire happened Friday at a home daycare center in East Columbus. Two of the children injured in that fire remain in critical condition. They are being treated
at a burn center in Augusta. Meanwhile a third child has been transferred to another Augusta hospital. A fourth victim, Michael Dubard Junior, died Saturday at the burn center.
"I woke up and remember he’s gone I cried uncontrollably I mean it was like it was fresh all over again."
For Dana Richardson, the memories she holds of her son are strong.
"He was happy, energetic, biggest dimples when he woke up smiling", she said.
Michael Dubard Junior, Mikey , as he was known to his family, would have been two tomorrow. His life was cut short after a fire swept through his daycare on Millbranch Road in Columbus on Friday.
"It's like I’m waiting for him to come back around the corner," Richardson said.
Little Michael left behind four older sisters. According to Richardson, the family was in the burn center last year after one of his sisters was injured in a car accident, suffering from 3rd degree burns.
"I knew what to expect from Brit, he was worse...that kinda prepared me", she said
For Richardson, she said the worse will come when the people stop coming.
"The real grieving begins when the phone calls stop, the cards stop, the flowers stop...you have to get back to everyday life."
Richardson told me they will celebrate Dubard Jr's birthday tomorrow with close family and friends. The funeral has been set for Friday at 1pm at Faith Worship Center in Columbus.
