Alabama state senators have voted to begin debate on two bills that would tax, regulate and expand electronic bingo.
A lengthy filibuster is expected on the bills. The senate has set aside a minimum of three days for debate on the two bills.
One bill would allow closed electronic bingo casinos like Victoryland in Shorter, Alabama to reopen. The other is a Constitutional amendment that taxes, regulates and expands electronic bingo.
If the senate passes the legislation, then it will go to the house for consideration.
