Jim Burk, Lauren’s Burk’s father released a statement to the media. It reads:
On behalf of the entire Burk family and our dear Georgia friends who supported us this week, we wish to sincerely thank the jurors for their time and patience. We would especially like to thank the District Attorney’s office and Mr. Nick Abbett for his dedication and preparation for the trial. Also, we would like to thank Chief Tommy Dawson for his assistance this week. Finally, we would like to express our appreciation to the members of the media for respecting our privacy during this painful ordeal. We still have some questions as to why this happened, but hopefully we can find answers in the future. We continue to love and pray for Lauren.
