The Russell County Sheriff's Department held a news conference Sunday afternoon announcing Russell County Sheriff's Deputy Tim Watford, Russell County Sheriff's Deputy Kirby Dollar and Phenix City Police Officer Rachael Hauser are all suspended without pay pending an assault investigation.
According to the Russell County Sheriff's Department, on Friday three bondsmen were looking for Patrick Harrington. The bondsmen found Harrington in Lee County on Mullin Road and informed Deputy Dollar of the find.
The Russell County Sheriff's Department says Deputy Dollar, Deputy Watford and Officer Hauser all left the same party where they had consumed alcohol. Sheriff Thomas Boswell says all three officers were off duty at the time and driving a Russell County Sheriff's drug vehicle.
During the news conference, the Russell County Sheriff's Department told News 3, the three law officials began to assault Harrington, who had already been tased and handcuffed by the bondsmen. Harrington sustained head and upper body injuries from the assault, went to the hospital, and is being held in the Lee County Jail.
The Russell County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the case; as well as the ABI and the FBI.
