Aflac announced Tuesday that 36-year-old Dan McKeague of Hugo, Minnesota is the new new voice of the Aflac Duck. The married father of three submitted his audition online and was selected from more than 12,500 live and online auditions.
McKeague is a sales manager for radio stations KQRS and Love 105 in Minneapolis. He has done local voiceovers and his voice will debut in Aflac's latest commercial, "Pigeon." The Ad will be avilable on the Aflac Duck's Facebook page.
Aflac's External Communications Manager, Jon Sullivan, sent out an email to media this morning, saying the selection of the new voice of the Aflac Duck will be made Tuesday afternoon.
Aflac fired the old voice for the duck, Gilbert Gottfried, after the comedian posted a string of mocking jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on Twitter right after the disaster.
The tasteless tweets were especially problematic for Aflac, because it does 75 percent of its business in Japan. Company officials say one in four homes in Japan buys health insurance from Aflac.
Aflac's "Worldwide Headquarters" are in Columbus, on Wynnton Road.
