Jennifer Long pled 'not guilty' in Recorder's Court Saturday morning, regarding murder charges surrounding the death of her 20-month-old daughter Alexis.
Judge Cynthia Maisano ordered the mother held without bond on the murder charge and bound the case over to Muscogee Superior Court.
Long's husband, Tim, waived his hearing after being released on $5,000 bond Thursday from the Muscogee County Jail.
Late last week Columbus police announced the arrests of 35-year-old Jennifer Long on a murder charge and 46-year-old Timothy Long on a charge of Cruelty to Children Second Degree.
Lieutenant Lynn Joiner of CPD's Robbery Homicide Unit said in a news release, "On January 29th, Alexis Long W/F/20 months old, was brought to the Medical Center Emergency Room with injuries to the back of her head.
"It was quickly determined the child was seriously injured. Medical Center personnel determined the child would need to be transported to Egleston Children's Hospital. When the attending doctors spoke to the parents of the child, their version of what had happened to the child was not consistent with the injury.
"Police were called to the Medical Center and Robbery/Homicide began an investigation. The child died in Atlanta Tuesday. Information received from medical personnel said the child suffered severe head trauma to the back of her head.
"After investigating this incident, it was determined the injuries were not accidental. On February 2nd, today, investigators spoke with the Medical Examiners Office and were advised the child died of head trauma and the manner of death was Homicide.
"At 2:30 P. M. members of the Robbery/Homicide unit served two warrants at 1807 43rd. St. Investigation determined the two arrested subjects should be charged with their listed charges. They are currently in the Jail being processed.
"Anyone wanting photos should check with the Sheriff's Office. Records Court hearing for the two will be February 4th at 9:00 A.M."

Columbus police confirm they are investigating the death of 20-month-old Alexis Long.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower, he is awaiting autopsy results concerning the death of Long.
The baby is said to be a Columbus native.
According to police, she was initially brought to the Medical Center by her parents on Sunday evening. She was said to have head injuries.
Allegedly, after the doctors assed her injuries and spoke with her parents, they did not feel like Long's injuries matched the incident descriptions from her parents; so doctors reportedly then called detectives.
The coroner confirms Jones was moved to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta, where she died just before 9 on Tuesday morning.
Thrower says he hopes to release the autopsy results tomorrow but they may not be available until Friday.
