Police say Richard Perry of Columbus was attempting to change the oil on a unoccupied car he had in his backyard. While he was underneath, the vehicle allegedly ran him over.
Police responded to a 911 call from the victim's wife around 1:15 this afternoon.
They say the Perry was dead when they arrived on scene.
The apparent accident happened in the 3300 block of Coweta Drive.
The Muscogee County Coroner, Bill Thrower, was also called to the scene.
