Thank to Ms. Viola Petty for nominating this week's MEA Federal Credit Union Golden Apple award winner.
News 3's Carlos Williams surprised Johnson Elementary kindergarten teacher Keia Medlock with the honor.
Ms. Petty told us in her nomination letter that teaching is Ms. Medlock's passion and she treats her students as if they were her own children. She also says Ms. Medlock routinely goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Medlock, a Columbus State grad and seven-year teaching veteran says teaching the kindergarteners is special.
"I just love it. I love them coming in and greeting them every morning...the smiles I get the eagerness. I like just molding them into what5 they are going to become later in life, It's just wonderful"
