COLUMBUS, Ga. --

The family of 57-year-old Michael Lee Williams is mourning his death after he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday evening.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower, Williams was struck by a vehicle when he stepped out onto the road at the intersection of Clearwater Drive and Warm Springs Road. Thrower said Williams was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. at the Medical Center's emergency room.

Thrower said there are no charges pending against the driver of the accident and the incident is being called a tragic accident. Williams was a Columbus native.
