The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is investigating the newly owned Tender Kare Academy at the Midtown Plaza after a mother said her child was missing from the facility when she went to pick her up Thursday.
Andrea Lee said she found out that the daycare facility ended up being short staffed so they needed to move some of the kids to another one of their facilities but they did it without notifying her.
“My sister came out with the daycare Director and I could look at her face and tell something was wrong and I just lost it. I ended up passing out,” said Andrea Lee.
Lee said she was expecting to see her two-year-old and six-month-old girls at the same location where she dropped them off but her six-month-old was not there.
“It’s hard you know you think you're leaving your kids in a safe place,” said Lee.
Lee said her six-month-old was moved without her knowledge to Tender Kare Academy's other facility on Floyd Road because they had more staff.
“You know these are your kids you don't take them and play with them like rag dolls,” said Lee.
Lee said the Tender Kare Academy her daughter was shipped off to didn’t take care of her needs.
“My child is asthmatic. Every day I send her with notes of what needs to be done with her and they did not administer her medicine she wasn't fed her food for the morning because it was still in her bag ,” said Lee.
Lee said she's a single mother of two so she relies on daycares but will always have second thoughts now.
“I'm calming down but i don't think I’ll ever get over this. I don't think I’ll be able to trust any daycare facility after this,” said Lee.
News 3 contacted the owner of Tender Kare Academy multiple times Thursday but never heard anything back.
