Two teens are behind bars after an Opelika fast food employee is pistol whipped and threatened with death during an armed robbery.
Opelika Police arrested two teens after an armed robbery at Jack's restaurant.
The robbery happened just after 9:00 a.m. Monday night at Jack's on Pepperell Parkway.
According to the police report, several employees were inside when a suspect entered, demanded money, and threatened to kill if he didn't get it.
"One of the employees was attempting to find the code to open the safe and the suspect struck him twice in the back of the head with a handgun,” said Captain Bruce DeLong, Opelika Police Department.
According to officials, after grabbing the cash the suspects jumped in a dark colored SUV leading police on a chase that ended at Royal Park Estates.
“The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for questioning...The handgun believed to have been used in the offense and some currency was recovered,” said DeLong.
Now two teens are behind bars. 17-year-old Jeremy James was arrested that night. On Tuesday, police apprehended 18-year-old Jamarcus Wilson.
It was business as usual at Jack's Tuesday. The manager declined to speak on camera, but a store representative says the most important thing is that no one was hurt.
The teens are being held at the Lee County Detention Center. Both teens are charged with first degree robbery.
