The man police accuse of killing a 67 year old woman in 2004 will go free according to Assistant D.A Dawn Kelly.

Kelly says Lindsey Favors will be released from the Muscogee County Jail today because his office has decided to put the case on the dead docket; which means they will not proceed to trail.

Police accuse Favors of brutally stabbing and killing 67 year old Vera Braswell. Braswell was found in the cooler of the Baltimore’s produce at the State Farmer’s Market on 10th Avenue on December 8, 2004.

Lindsey was arrested in March 2005 and since then been in behind bars. Assistant D.A Kelly says the decision to put the case on the dead docket came after he received information from the defense.

Kelly says he spoke with Braswell’s family and all parties feel this is the best decision until more information can be found for a stronger case. Kelly says had they gone to trial and Favors been acquitted they could never retry him.

Kelly can take this case off the dead docket at any time.
