Russell County authorities are calling it a case of cattle rustling. A pair of thieves stole cows from a Russell County farm and were caught red-handed with the animals in Buena Vista before they could sell the animals. Russell County Sheriff’s investigators teamed up with authorites from Marion County to investigate the case. Fifteen cows were stolen from C.C. Lambs farm in Hurtsboro Alabama. According to police, AubreyParker and Kelly Bowen admitted to the theft. Authorities say the pair stole the cattle early Wednesday morning and were trying to take the animals to sell them at the stockyards in Americus Georgia. Farmer C.C. Lamb wants justice. “I’d like to see them spend many years in jail. I don’t have any use for a thief. I’ve earned everything with hard work and being honest” Lamb said. Investigators spent the afternoon searching the woods for the remaining stolen cows that got loose from the thieves. A Buena Vista business man saw the thieves and the stolen cattle Wednesday and thought it was suspicious and called the sheriff. The two men were taken into custody a short time later and are being held at the Marion county jail. The stolen cows are worth 500-dollars a head.
