Barbara Lowe teaches Health and Personal Fitness at the Academic Success Center in Columbus. She’s been an educator for 12 years. “Because I love children and this is something that I’ve always wanted to do,” says Lowe.
The Academic Success Center is a vocational school where students can learn a vocation and get their diploma in a non traditional setting. Lowe likes the fact that the school gives her a chance to work one on one with students. One of those students nominated her for the Golden Apple Award. In her letter LaCondria Adams writes about Lowe, saying she’s
“willing to help and always there here for us when we really need someone to talk to.
She’s a reliable person she treats everyone equal.
And on top of all of that she has “WORKED REALLY HARD” for this.”
Knowing that she’s getting through to her students is confirmation for Lowe that she’s in the right place.
“It’s not just me inspiring them. They inspire me to come to work everyday. It brings me joy to know someone appreciates what we do everyday,” says Lowe.
