Columbus, GA - The Columbus Lions are proud to announce that they have resigned quarterback Todd Spitzer. Spitzer finished the 2009 season accumulating a 7-1 record as a starter and leading the Lions to a Southern Division Championship and a tight loss in the Eastern Conference Championship game. The former Western Carolina Catamount racked up 26 total touchdowns, 7 rushing and 19 passing, throughout the regular season and playoffs.

“Todd was instrumental in our success last season,” stated Head Coach Jason Gibson, “He came in and quickly learned our system. He was able to make some big plays and most importantly he took care of the ball.” Spitzer ended the season with nearly a 5 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio with 19 passing td’s and only 4 interceptions which makes Gibson happy, “I extremely excited to have Todd for a full season. He has a strong and accurate arm and he is a winner. I look forward to having him back and expect big things from him in 2010. ”
