Auburn schools are open today while school officials await test results from an Auburn boy who tested positive
for Type A Influenza. News 3 spoke overnight with a representative from auburn public schools. She told us that they believe the young boy has what she calls the regular flu virus. But they are awaiting test results from the Alabama Department of Health to be sure.
The boy
was brought
to the East Alabama Medical Center late last week. He was hospitalized
Thursday night
for slight
dehydration.
    He was released Friday morning.
According to John Atkinson with the East Alabama Medical Center, “When you do a test it either
comes out as A, B or not at all.
The B ones you don’t have to
worry about.  It’s the A ones,
if they test positive that we
have to send to the state
for clarification on whether
it’s swine flu”.
