Couple Takes Kia’s Online Application For a Spin

Emily and Galen Massie aren’t just partners in life. The husband and wife also hope to be partners professionally, as both applied for jobs at West Point’s new Kia plant, the first North American site for the Korean company.

Galen Massie worked as an electrician until being laid off in December 2008. Emily Massie also got laid off in July. And with an 8-year-old daughter to raise, they want to find jobs fast and hopefully at KMMG.

Emily Massie said the online process was pretty user-friendly. She applied for her first production job at KMMG, one of about 1,800 the company plans to fill.

Local Georgia Department of Labor staff can assist prospective employees apply at the Columbus Career Center at 700 Veterans Parkway. The center is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
