Russell County Man Arrested for Murder
A neighborhood scuffle Wednesday night in Hurtsboro, Ala., among juveline females turned deadly when two men joined the altercation, leaving one man dead and a female injured.Twenty-year-old Demario Chambliss of Hurtsboro, Ala., has been taken into custody at the Russell County Jail. He has been charged with murder and aggravated assault, following a shooting spree Wednesday that left one man dead and a juveline female injured.
Hurtsboro is about 30 miles from Columbus and the Opelika-Auburn area.
Chambliss is accused of killing 33-year-old Eric Tyrone Fluellen of Smiths Station. Fluellen’s family lives in Hurtsboro. He was shot multiple times in the back. His body was transported to the state crime lab where an autopsy will be performed.
Chambliss was arrested Thursday afternoon in Columbus along Old Cussetta Road. Chambliss was discovered at a friend’s house. He signed a waiver of extradition, and Russell County law enforcement took him back to Alabama where he will face a judge Friday.
