Kia Manufacturing Hiring for Second Wave
A second wave of hiring is rolling into Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. in West Point. Unlike the first application period which ended after 30 days in 2008, this period will remain open indefinitely. However, heavy interviewing and hiring should occur between now and March 2010.
“If you look at the unemployment growing and getting higher,“ said Randy Jackson, KMMG director of human resources. “If you look at plant closure’s in this region, we thought it was best to reopen and give people a chance to apply or in some cases reapply.“
Jackson said that KMMG seeks to hire up to 1,500 more production or maintenance team member positions.
The application process is online-only, designed by Georgia Quick Start, the first stop for those interested in working with KMMG.
But getting hired by Kia takes several steps.
“After you’ve applied, if you meet our qualifications, we’ll invite you for an interview,” Jackson said, explaining the assessment and selection process. “If you pass the interview, we’ll invite you to the 40-hour, pre-employment assessment training delivered by Quick Start at the Kia Georgia Training Center. And if you pass that, there are still two or three further steps before the final job offer.”
Once hired, however, new team members will complete a two to three week training in Korea.
