Lance Foods Expansion Means 70 New Jobs

A long time Columbus business announces it’s bringing new jobs to town.

Lance Foods says they are investing more than $10 million in the Columbus plant and hiring 70 new people. They are expanding their high speed cracker line.

Plant Manager Jack Warden says they will start construction in the next 30 days.

The Columbus Plant was competing with several other lance locations for the expansion.

Blake Thompson is the Senior Vice President of Supply & Chain for Lance Foods. Thompson says, “Columbus made the most sense. It was more heavily weighted toward being a strategic distribution point, as well as the community support here and the ability of facility to manage project,”

The company says the hiring will begin in late august early September. It will be done through the Georgia Department of Labor. Lance says they are still deciding if they should host a job fair.  Production is slated to start late fall.
