Employees shake hands, share hugs and leave their work lives of decades behind.B.F. Goodrich, the last of Opelika’s industry giants closed its doors Friday afternoon.
The tire manufacturing company announced in April 2009 that it would shut down the plant. Since then, 1,000 people have lost their jobs.
Severance packages were dealt out, and 26 jobs at the Tuscaloosa B.F. Goodrich plant are up for grabs.
