Man Turns Himself In, Charged With Murder

20-year-old Derrick Lamar Johnson turned himself in after 12:00 a.m., about three and half hours after a 17-year-old male was shot in a 1995 Ford Taurus in the 2400 block of 2nd Avenue. Johnson has been charged with murder.

The victim suffered a gun-shot wound to the back. Investigators determined that Johnson was in the back seat of the vehicle with a handgun when the victim was shot.

Johnson’s preliminary hearing is Thursday morning in Recorder’s Court. The investigation is ongoing.
