Published: June 29, 2009
Miss Capital City Kristina Higgins will not be the next Miss Georgia. Higgins relinquished her crown to first runner up Miss Cobb County Emily Cook.
In a statement Higgins said:
“Due to my current job responsibilities as a middle school teacher and the responsibilities and time commitment as Miss Georgia I have decided not to fulfill the duties of Miss Georgia 2009. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been chosen as Miss Georgia and fully support the system and wish Emily Cook the best of luck.”
First runner up, now Miss Georgia 2009, Emily Cook will be crowned in a ceremony in the near future. Cook is a graduate of the University of Miami and has been accepted to the University of Georgia School of Law.
