Update: Victoryland

Gov. Bob Riley says Milton McGregor’s decision to close VictoryLand’s casino and update the computers is proof the gambling machines were operating illegally. Riley also says he is not concerned with 2006 campaign contributions John Tyson recieved from McGregor.

The casino portion of VictoryLand closed Monday night prompting some speculation. It has not yet reopened. A raid on bingo machines was called off at the complex in Shorter, Alabama on Friday.

An employee of Quincy Triple Seven says they were just upgrading software. The hotel and the dog tracks are still open.

The Alabama Supreme Court is giving both sides in the dispute over electronic bingo machines until late Tuesday afternoon to file their legal arguments. The court is expected to make a decision on Wednesday.
