UPDATE: River Road Open After Overnight Fire At Pharmacy

Officials say the River Road Pharmacy was not open when the fire broke out. Crews had the fire under control about an hour after they arrived at the scene.

Three firefighters were injured while trying to fight the blaze. Two were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and the other was treated for 2nd degree burns to the face. They all have since been released.

News Three was told by a worker that the pharmacy supplies medication to a couple of nursing homes. The owner also runs a pharmacy in Lumpkin Georgia, and he is currently trying to get medicine from that pharmacy sent to the nursing homes.

The building is being called a total loss. There are $300,000 dollars of damage to the building, $100,000 of that being the contents inside. Stay tuned to News Three for the latest.


Fire crews spent Sunday night fighting flames at River Road Pharmacy.

Columbus Dispatch tells us the call came in around 9:30 Sunday night. Police and Fire crews shut down River Road between Moss Drive and 50th Street Monday morning, but have since re-opened that section.
