Smiths Station Man Acquitted In Murder Trial

A Lee County jury finds a former Russell County Sheriff’s Corrections officer not guilty of killing his son-in-law last October.

57 year old Michael Britton was charged with shooting Robert Bryan Hurst with a shotgun in the chest.

Law enforcement officials says Hurst had a fight with Britton’s daughter the night before that put her in the hospital, a likely cause for the shooting.
