West Point Dubbed “Kia-Ville”

Deep in the middle of a recession, there’s a boom town rising. To find it, you’d have to go 80 miles from Atlanta to West Point, Georgia. Why West Point, Georgia, because there’s a thriving auto industry there.
As CNN’s Alina Cho finds car maker Kia is making big economic and cultural changes to the area.
Kia is scheduled to go into production in December. The assembly plant expects to have more than 1,000 workers when it starts production and 2,500 by the end of 2010.
The new generation Sorento will be the first model the West Point facility produces. Human Resources Director Randy Jackson says suppliers will add another 7,500 jobs.
