Ms. Christopher has spent her entire teaching career in the Marion County school system.  Her love for music dates back to her school days.  She played the flute and percussion while attending Eufaula High School.  She went on to get her bachelor’s degree from Troy University where she played in their marching band.  Kathy believes all kids need to be exposed to music.  She sees it as an outlet through which they can channel their emotions.  Ms. Christopher says music makes her students into a more well-rounded person.  Kathy doesn’t let the size of her school diminish the skill of her students.  She says, “I just feel like for a small band we are really blessed with a lot of good students who have a lot of talent.“  Ms. Christopher’s students sing her praises.  “She’s a big impact and a big role model.  I can go talk to her about anything and she will listen,“ says senior Timquanna Jones.  Ishmael McKinstry is also a senior music student.  He adds, “Ms. Christopher taught my mother and now I’m in this band and she’s teaching me.  She’s been a great influence on my life.“  Ms. Christopher is committed to her students.  She sums it up this way…“I feel like a lot of them might not have stuck with music if I had not stuck with them.“
