Jeannie Cole has been a teacher for twelve years, having also taught in Tennessee and South Carolina.  She has been a resource teacher at Gentian Elementary for the last two years.  She helps out in kindergarten through second grade classrooms providing assistance with reading and math.  Cole says she also helps them out with their organizational skills.  She loves to see her students in the process of learning.  “Some days when the light comes on it really comes on and you get to see a tremendous amount of growth,“ according to Cole.  Jeannie’s children attend Gentian which allows her to check up on them.  She says that’s really a plus.  Upon receiving the award Cole said, “I’m flabbergasted!  I just think it’s a great honor.  Everyone in this school deserves an apple award.  I’d kind of like to accept this for everyone here at the school because everyone works so incredibly hard.“
