Senator Richard Shelby Upset About New Stimulus Law

PHENIX CITY, AL—One of the most vocal opponents of the President’s stimulus package is Alabama Senator Richard Shelby. 

The senior senator from Alabama was in Phenix City this afternoon, on an annual statewide tour listening to the concerns of citizens.

Mr. Shelby is the top Republican leader on the Senate Banking Committee, and has been a vocal opponent of the measure.

“When you borrow and put 800 billion dollars in the market, and put it on the taxpayers back, you’re stealing from our grandchildren. It’s not going to turn the economy around,” he said.
