DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama National Guard soldier from
Dothan wounded in the mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, has had
some famous faces in his hospital room.
Maj. Randy Royer was visited by President Barack Obama and First
Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday. Last week, he got a visit from
former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura.
The 47-year-old Dothan resident is one of 29 soldiers wounded
last Thursday when Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan went on a shooting
rampage on the base. Thirteen people were killed in the shooting.
Royer is part of 270 Alabama soldiers who arrived at Fort Hood
last week just before the rampage to do final preparations for a
deployment to Afghanistan. He is recovering from his injuries.
