Man Known as “Vicar of Baghdad” Sharing His Story Across Georgia

A clergyman who has spent more than a decade building a church in Iraq is spending this week in Georgia. Reverend Canon Andrew White is known as the “Vicar of Baghdad”. He serves as the Anglican/Episcopalian/Lutheran chaplain in the International Zone. He’s also the Vicar of St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad, which now claims more than 3,500 members. He’ll be making stops at various churches across the state to talk about his experiences with the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, which works to find middle ground among religious factions in wartorn Iraq. Today, Reverend White will be at LaGrange College at 3 p.m. and then stop at First Baptist Church in Columbus at 7 p.m. To see Rev. White’s itenerary, click here.
