TROY, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a 90-year-old Troy man used a
.38-caliber handgun to fatally shoot an 82-year-old woman during an
act of jealousy.
In a statement, Troy police said investigators arrested Bob
Ingram Pittman on Thursday and charged him with the murder of Doris
Adams, known for her volunteer work at Troy city hall.
Police said Adams’ body was found by family members on Tuesday
at her home. Pittman was taken to the Pike County Jail and held on
a $100,000 bond. It was not known if he has an attorney.
Records showed the pair were dating at the time of the murder.
The shooting happened on May 11 around 9:30 p.m. at Adams’ home.
Police arrested Pittman at his home Thursday night.
If convicted, Pittman could be sentenced to 10 to life in
prison.
