From Big Dogs To New Dogs
Georgia talks on day two
Two big dogs are gone, but the yard is fullHoover, AL - A year ago Georgia was the pre-season number one ranked team in the country, with two possible Heisman candidates on offense. This season, Joe Cox wore a name tag at SEC Media Days.
“Last year there was a lot of hype, two great players, (Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno) and this year it’s been much more quiet,“ defensive tackle Jeff Owens said. “The star of our team, is our team.“
“This spring was great for us because we understand that it’s all on us,“ quarterback Joe Cox said. “And as the quarterback, I know it’s not all on me, I’ve got 10 other guys on offense that are going to be there.“
Georgia was picked second in the SEC east behind defending champion Florida. But Georgia once again has one of the toughest schedules in the nation, besides the SEC, The Bulldogs are opening on the road at Oklahoma State, get Arizona State in Athens, before ending the season at Georgia Tech.
“We’ve got three BCS teams, I don’t know if that is so smart,“ head coach Mark Richt said. “But that is what we’ve got and we are not going to dwell on it, and knowing that first game is coming, we’ve got to get ready for it.“
Georgia is leaning on the ‘team’ theme, the 2009 Media Guide has the entire team with ofcourse Uga looking on.
