Columbus, GA - Meeting for the fifth time of the season, this venue was familiar. Just two weeks prior, Columbus beat Northside in the bottom of the 7th to capture the region crown. Thursday night, the Devils won it in the bottom of the sixth inning.
After both teams won their first round game, Columbus 1-0 over Creekview, and Northside 3-2 over Eastside, it set up the match-up at RG Jones Field at South Commons. Scoreless in the 6th, Columbus got runners on second and third with no outs. After a failed sacrifice bunt, Chandler Padgett stepped to the plate, with the same situation, runners on second and third with one out. She hit the ball down the first base line, scoring Amanda Stuckey. Danyelle Glover scored another run on the next pitch with a base hit to left. Columbus wins 2-0, it’s their fourth win over the Patriots on the year and assures them of atleast a fourth place finish in the state. Northside must come through the losers bracket to win the AAA State Title.
