Bechard Goes From The Rink, To The Dance Floor

Columbus, GA - We should blame it on hockey. If the sport did not catch the eye of a young Canadian, the world may have been witness to Jerome “Ballet” Bechard, instead of Boom Boom.

The Columbus Cottonmouths head coach was one of ten dancers in the first Dancing Stars Of Columbus Memory Gala at the River Mill Event Center Friday night. It was a fund raising event to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Over 600 people attended the event, which had guests vote for each dancer, with one vote equaling one dollar. The event raised over $70,000.

Bechard said the hockey to dancing skills did not translate too well. “The leg extensions, my calfs are sore, and my hip hurts every time I move out there, it was a lot of work, but for a great cause.“

Bechard got a 26 out of 30 for his performance, which included the removal of teeth, an open shirt, and a mustache similar to a villian from 1930’s black and white movie. You kept thinking he was going to tie someone to a train track. You can check out Bechard’s entire performance by clicking on the monitor.
