Blackmon Takes Game North Of The Border

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Former Auburn linebacker Tray Blackmon is trying to build a pro career 2,000 miles away from all the expectations that shadowed him in college.
   
Blackmon is hoping to make the roster of the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders after leaving Auburn following his injury-shortened junior season. Suspensions and injuries helped keep him from living up to his billing as one of the nation’s top linebacker prospects coming out of high school.
   
Now, he has a chance for a fresh start.
   
Blackmon said he wanted to go somewhere where people judged him by what he shows them, not by what they have heard or read.
   
Blackmon missed 17 games in three seasons and recorded only 84 career tackles despite flashes of the talent that led to his status as a coveted prospect out of LaGrange, Ga.
