Columbus, GA - Freshman Defender Kayla Brown is the Peach Belt Conference’s Defender of the Week.  Brown helped the CSU defense record a pair of shutouts over the weekend. Alternating between back and defensive midfielder, Brown helped the CSU defense hold Harding to only four shots, one on goal, and no corner kicks in their match on Friday.  On Sunday CSU put up its fourth straight shutout against Tampa, holding the Spartans to five shots, one on goal. The CSU defense has allowed only one goal scored this season and are ranked third nationally in team goals against average.  This weekend’s victories bring the Lady Cougars to 6-0-1 for the season.

CSU women’s soccer hosts its first ever “Kick for the Cure” game this Saturday, September 26 at Walden Field, where the Cougars and opponents USC Aiken will don pink in honor of breast cancer awareness.  Donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be accepted in place of gate fees, to support breast cancer research and understanding.
