Lions Holding Tryout In Columbus

November 2, 2009 (COLUMBUS)-  The Columbus Lions are pleased to announce that they will be holding an open tryout Sunday November 8th at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, GA.  This will mark the second open tryout leading into the Lions 2010 season.

Registration will begin at 9:00 AM and the tryout will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.  Participants should pre-register online at http://www.columbuslions.net by clicking on the tryout link on the home page.  The pre-registration fee is $40.00 and should be in the form of a check or money order and mailed to the Lions office at 400 4th Street, Columbus, GA 31901.  Registration the day of the tryout will be $55.00 and will only be accepted in the form of cash or money order (no checks will be accepted). 

Participants should wear athletic shorts, tennis shoes or cleats for an indoor turf surface.  No metal cleats, molded cleats, or spikes will be permitted. T-shirts will be provided by the Lions to all participants.

The Lions finished the 2009 season 12-4 and were the Southern Division Champions.  They head into 2010 returning two-time Defensive Player of the Year, Damian Daniels, who was discovered at an open tryout.  “These tryouts are a great way to discover new talent,” said Head Coach Jason Gibson, “this should be a great tryout with players coming back from the Atlanta tryout, some players from last year, and some promising college prospects coming in.”
