Meshack Koyiaki Named The PBC Runner Of The Week
Published: October 12, 2009
Columbus, GA - Columbus State’s Meshack Koyiaki has formed two habits in his short time at Columbus State - winning meets, and being named Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week. Koyiaki did both of those things for the third time this season as he won the Cougar Invitational on Saturday and earned the PBC honor on Monday.
Koyiaki set a new course record as he torched the Cougar Invitational at the Smiths Station Sports Complex. The sophomore collected his third straight meet win as he toured the 8k course in 24:22, the fastest 8k run in the PBC this season. CSU won the event behind his effort. The last time any PBC runner had a faster 8k was in 2002 when North Florida’s Zephernius Joseph, who went on to run in the Olympics, won the Florida Intercollegiate in 24:06. Koyiaki owns each of the top three 8k times in the PBC so far this season.
