Stephen Swanepoel Finishes Second

Destin, FL - Columbus State’s Stephen Swanepoel fired a final round 1-over 73 to finish in second place at the 18-team Indian Bayou Collegiate Classic on Tuesday. Host North Alabama, who finished the two-day event at 572 (285-287), won the team title by ten shots over Valdosta State (290-292). CSU shot 298 (+10) on Tuesday and finished tied for third with Shorter College at 595. Clayton State finished fifth at 600 (295-305). UNA’s Brett Munson claimed the individual title with another sizzling performance at the 7018 yard Indian Bayou layout. Munson fired a final round 7-under 65 to finish at 10-under (134), five shots ahead of Swanepoel (66-73). Shorter’s Arvid Bengtsson finished third at 140 (68-72).
CSU came into day’s action in sixth place after yesterday’s 297 (+9). Jeremy Britt rebounded from Monday’s 79 and was the low Cougar on Tuesday with an even-par 72. Columbus High product Michael Lee finished at 153 with his final round 75. Michael Hicks finished the tournament at 152 with his closing round 78. Sophomore Steven Paine closed with a 78 and finished the two-day event at 157.
CSU wraps up its fall schedule with the 54-hole Rollins Invitational on October 26-27 at Forest Lake Golf Club in Ocoee, FL.
