If Pepper Could Talk

Pepper and I will celebrate our 4th anniversary on May 13. He’s an 11 pound black and white Pomeranian mix with one white paw. Pepper can at times be the sweetest little dog on earth. But when he’s around other pets, he can be quite the little monster!

Pepper was a birthday gift from my co-anchor, Phil Scoggins and his wife Judy. He was a rescue. Apparently someone had him and lost him. Their loss is my gain!
I’ve often wondered what he would say if he could speak. After almost four years of living with the Pepster, here’s what I think he would say:

“But if I’m outside, how would I watch tv?”
“Where would I spread the comforter?”
“Can we go to Zaxby’s for that really great Blackened Blu Zalad?”
“Why is that dog walking on my street?”
“He’d better not get in my face!”
“When are you going to get it mommy. I DON’T LIKE OTHER DOGS!”
“But wait, she’s cute. I won’t play with her, but I won’t snap at her either.”
“Can we walk over there where there are people so that someone can rub my belly?”
“The raincoat again? Really. If you want me to go outside in the rain, you’re going to have to catch me.”
“No thanks. I’ll sleep on the couch. See you in the morning.”
“Are you ever going to wake up and take me outside?”
“No, don’t leave me out here in the backyard alone. Then fine, I won’t tinkle!”
“Ok, this is my space. That’s your space. ”
“Oh no you are not going to come over here and try to take me outside when I’m trying to nap!”
“She has her purse. I’ll just sit here patiently until she decides if I can go with her. I can sit for hours!”

Pet Blog April 3, 2009

Welcome to the WRBL “Pets Blog!”

This website is dedicated to all you pet lovers! I have recently joined the pet club and adopted a puppy!

(Meet Mo)

His name is Gizmo, but I call him Mo and he is a Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Hot Dog mix. When I adopted him from Safe Haven I though we was a sweet, calm, little puppy I could watch TV with.

But I soon found out he had more energy than me and gets into EVERYTHING!

Needless to say it has been an adventure having him in the house and I look forward to sharing my pet stories with you and hearing about your little furry bundle of joys too!

In the Field April 3, 2009

Welcome to the WRBL “In the Field Blog!”

This blog is your behind-the-scenes ticket to what we encounter in the field while gathering local news stories for you and what goes on here at the station.

Just to get things started lets go behind the scene after the six o’clock newscast. Typically after the “on air” light goes off there is a post show meeting to talk about the highs and of course lows of a newscast.

(Phil Scoggins, Teresa Whitaker, and Meteorologist Bob Jeswald waiting for the post show meeting to start)

Afterwards we all retreat to our desks to wrap up the day work….

(Ashley Ball speaks with Tim Reid about his story on stolen explosives in Phenix City)

Or in Phil’s case figure out what’s for dinner!

(Phil on the phone with family figuring out the dinner menu)
