Butterbean Goes on a Hunger Strike

Butterbean has a taste for the finer things in life…I wonder where she gets that from? Well, the latest battle is with the daily cuisine. She has always been very finicky about her food. I recently changed her daily menu (aka cat food). They where having a great sale on a particular brand so, I opted for the switch. Little did I know, changing a cat’s diet can be tricky.
It started out as a hunger strike. She would leave the food for day and would only eat cat treats, which I try to give 3 per day. When I realized she was boycotting the new daily dish, I tried for another cat food…a very expensive cat food I’ll have you know. I brought the new sensation home and offered it to her, denied. The hunger strike continued.
Here in lies the problem. Ever since I brought her home from the humane society, I have been feeding her a very particular cat food. It is also very expensive. Luckily my friend Gennie has several outside cats, she lives out in the country, so she took the two perfectly fine bags of cat food off my hands and bought the food that Butterbean really likes. Butterbean calls her Aunt Gennie:)
In the end, she got what she wanted but, it came at a price. Once she had a taste of her favorite food, she devoured it. She ate so quickly that she regurgitated most of it shortly after. When you see whole pieces of cat food in the pile, it leads me to believe she did not do a whole lot of chewing. Eating fast is never a good idea and I think she has learned that now. No new gifts have been left of the carpet over the past 24 hours. Hopefully that story remains in tack by the time I get home today.
