Mabel is a four year old domestic shorthair tabby cat. Mabel’s family abandoned her at her veterinary clinic. She is a quiet, peaceful cat who enjoys affection but also enjoys her time alone. She is a pretty cat with a sweet expression. Mabel is spayed, current on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and micro-chipped. Mabel’s adoption fee is $79.

Henry is a five year old apricot Poodle who was recently abandoned at the shelter. Henry is super friendly and affectionate and will make a wonderful lap dog. Henry has some cataracts which affect his vision but he compensates with his hearing which is super sharp. Henry has lots of love to give and is looking for that special person. He runs up to his kennel door happily to greet visitors. He has been groomed and is ready for a new home. He is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $200.

News 3’s Kevin Roble spent the summer building new digs for the family dog, Lucky. Kevin describes his dog as spoiled. Lucky can be seen most mornings coming out of his new home and looking for the expected treats. He’s the “lucky” owner of this new house. Does your furry friend have a fabulous home? Time: Registration 9 AM to 11 AM EDT; Junior Showmanship Competiton at 11:30 am. Regular Judging starts at 12 Noon or at the conclusion of Junior Showmanship.

Match Fees: $6 pre-entry, $3 for any additional entry of SAME dog in another event
$8 day of match for first entry and $3 additional entry. Juniors Competition: Free if dog is entered in another regular event, otherwise $6 for Jr. competition only.

Canine Good Citizen Test: $10 pre-entry; $15 day of match

Mr. Hobbs is a five year old Bengal Cat. He is looking for a home in which he can be the king. He loves quiet, calm attention and is very affectionate. He is totally de-clawed and will need to be in an indoor only, pet free home for his safety. His lovely markings and the gentle, affectionate nature of a Bengal make him desired among cat lovers. He is neutered, current on vaccinations, FeLV/FIV negative and micro-chipped. We are currently holding a silent auction for Mr. Hobbs adoption fee. Please call or visit the shelter if interested.

Tinker is a unique looking wire-haired Terrier/Beagle mix. She is three years old. Tinker is a very gentle, good-natured girl. She is great with other dogs and loves people and children. Ft. Benning Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Michael Ferriter, didn’t spare any words Thursday afternoon, but he did say three key things.

The new Maneuver Center of Excellence slogan, “One force, one fight.“ It’s a fitting description for the consolidation of the Armor School at Fort Knox, Ky., and the Infantry School at Fort Benning, part of the BRAC project.

Ferriter then told the crowd of about 350 that “it’s a great day to be a soldier, any way you look at it.“ And for some in that crowd, like Stephanie Jones, wife of Col. Peter Jones of the now-deployed Third Brigade, a good way to look at it is in the third key statement made by Ferriter during the ceremony…

“It’s the soldier that puts the excellence in the Maneuver Center of Excellence,“ Ferriter said.

Don’t forget that Fort Benning’s Third Brigade is now the most deployed combat brigade in the U.S. Army. The brigade was given a shout-out at various points in the MCOE ceremony. Its own colors cased up a few weeks ago on Kelley Hill, in another symbolic gesture.

Sandy is a sweet and submissive five-year-old shepherd mix in need of a loving home. She has a calm, quiet demeanor and is very loyal if given the chance. She is a little skittish with new people causing her to be frequently passed over. This is nothing a little extra TLC cannot cure. She will need some time and a patient person to allow her to bond and trust. She loves car rides and is very calm indoors. She needs a quiet, child and pet free home. She would be great for a senior or an apartment home. She walks easily on a leash and is housebroken as long as she is let out in time. Sandy is spayed, up to date on flea/heartworm prevention, current on vaccines, and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $145.

What Will Pinot Terry Be?

Where do you fall in the argument of dressing your pet for Halloween? I obviously participate. As you can see, one of Pinot’s costumes is a spider. It’s pretty funny looking. He doesn’t seem to mind. I can tell when he doesn’t appreciate my creativity, like when I bought him a cap and gown for his puppy training class graduation. O.K. So the gown was lined with gold sequins. It was immediately obvious that he didn’t like it and we removed it as soon as we could stop laughing. He’s a good sport and I love him dearly for his patience in humoring me. your best pet Halloween photo and I’ll post it.

Pookie is a strong-yet-sweet year and a half old pit bull terrier mix. She likes to play but needs a little more leash training. If you have the patience in your heart for this little mama, you may want to consider giving her the forever home she deserves. She does not seem to enjoy the company of other dogs, but does like to focus her attention on people. Her adoption fee of $145 includes spay surgery, microchipping, and vaccinations. Remember that with all of our “bully” breeds, a home visit is required prior to and following the adoption.
