The Auburn Orange Dixie Boys (13) All-Stars beat East Montgomery, 19-2, in five innings Saturday night in the second round of the District 5 Tournament at West Ridge Park in Opelika.
After having a first-round bye, Auburn cranked out 15 hits. Hayden Morgan, Austin Triplett, and Hayden Williams combined for the win on the mound, allowing only three hits.
Opelika 14s roll over Southern
MONTGOMERY — The Opelika Dixie Boys (14) All-Stars beat Montgomery Southern, 12-2, in five innings Friday night.
Opelika sent 13 batters to the plate in an eight-run second inning, and was led by Chase Hegwood’s two hits and three RBIs for the game.
Cody Puckett, Bennett Whitman, Hunter Hillyer, Walker Meadows, Hank Scott and Dylan Smith all had hits on the night.
Austin Mitchell got the win, pitching three innings, giving up three hits and striking out two, and Brandon Waido struck out three over the final two innings.
Opelika played Smiths Station on Saturday night, and the result was not known at press time.
Opelika American opens sub-district with win
UNION SPRINGS — Opelika American won the opening game of Dixie AAA (9-10) sub-district tournament over host Union Springs, 9-4, on Friday.
Landon Nutter picked up the win for Opelika, pitching three innings while allowing only one hit and striking out four.
Opelika scored a run in the first and second innings, then plated five in the third on four hits, including doubles by Ethan Patterson and Jordan Sorter.
Hank Brown pitched the final two innings for Opelika, giving up a run on a hit, with two strikeouts.
Patterson led Opelika at the plate, scoring two runs on two hits, with three RBIs. Nutter and Dozier SmithT each had a hit and two RBIs. Brown, Jackson Craft, Houston Woods and Jared Willis each had a hit for Opelika.
Opelika plays the winner of Beauregard/Russell County on Tuesday.

Auburn Ponytails win in shutout
Auburn’s Ponytails All-Stars beat New Site, 10-0, on Saturday, a day after falling 11-1 to East Montgomery in the district tournament opener.
Sarah Adams got the win, with Lauren Willie closing the game with nine straight strikes with the bases loaded.
Bricken Allen had a triple and an RBI, and Ashley Carter, Makayla Huey, Jada Askew, Anna Grace Key, Katherine Smith, Ashton Teague and Adams had hits.
Evelyn Walker and Catey Marine both had an RBI, and Claire Milton had two walks and scored a run.
